On the Move Again

Other than owning a vacation home many moons ago, our primary home has always been a rental. This had afforded us the opportunity to seek out new adventures on a whim.  We lived in London for the summer of 2019 and Miami and the Hamptons summer 2021.

However, as the stars would align, shortly after returning to NYC we found that dream home. So here we are plotting and planning once again. I guess it’s safe to say, our new, very old home is eco friendly, having been built in 1890. They just don’t make homes like this anymore.  he ornate detailing and and sturdy finish. The labor itself, mostly done by hand with the absence of machinery and other quick fix solutions. Yes, there are some red flags to an old home like lead paint and asbestos, which are certainly not good for the environment, but overall these historical homes have stood the test of time.

Like our move to Toronto, we are approaching this move with the same mentality, yet even more so. “this old house” will serve as an environmental experiment for green with living. Almost every aspect of our home will be considered in a green friendly way. From furnishings to renovations and organization to cleaning suppliers, the environmental impact is top of mind. Join us as we take you through our move and watch in real time as we transform “this old house” from shabby to chic… sustainably!
